AFS rights management with OpenAFS
AFS directories can be configured for shared usage of multiple users.
Step 1: In order to edit the access rights, start the Windows Explorer and navigate to the folder you want to edit. Rightclick the folder and select AFS -> Access Control Lists
Step 2: The new window shows persons and groups and their rights.
The rights are displayed for the current folder, whereas:
- r = read
- l = list folder contents
- i = insert
- d = delete
- w = write
- k = lock file
- a = administration
If you create subfolders, the rights will be inherited from the parent folder.
Step 3: If you want to share the folder with other users, click "Add". The following window will open. Select the rights which you want to assign and enter the name of the correspondent user account.
If you want to share a folder in any depth of your home folder, it is necessary to assign the "l" right (at least) for all parent folders including the home folder.
After adding the new user, you can see the new rights in the list.
