Accessing the tubCloud service using the sync client
The network access to the tubIT ownCloud service is a requirement for using the ownCloud sync client.
The ownCloud developers provide sync clients for Mac OS X and Windows. At the moment it is only possible to use the file synchronization. Features like sharing files are only accessible using the web interface.
Installation
Windows:
- Download the tubCloud client
- Double click on the exe file and install the program
- Allow the installation with your admin rights.
- Go to Programs > tubCloud to start the client
Mac OS:
- Download the tubCloud client
- Double click the pkg file in order to open a window with the tubCloud icon
- Follow the installation instructions, you will need administrative rights
- Go to Programs > tubCloud to start the client
Linux:
- Download the tubCloud client
- Install/start the App Image according to your linux distribution
Configuration
The tubCloud-client only needs your tubIT account data for configuration.
Configuration at first start for tubCloud-client:
- At the first start of the client, you'll get asked for the server-adress. Please type in: tubcloud.tu-berlin.de
- After that, you have to type in your tubit-username and your tubit-password.
Server: tubcloud.tu-berlin.de
Username: <your own tubit-username>
Password: <your own tubit-password> - Now you have the possibility to select between synchronizing all or just selected data from our server. Furthermore you can select your local synchronization folder.
By default: C:\Users\<Username>\tubCloud
Use
When first starting the client the folder ~/tubCloud (Mac) respectively C:\Users\<Username>\tubCloud (Win) is created automatically. After entering your user credentials your files will be synced and can be found in the folder clientsync located in the tubCloud folder.
